Life Skills for Neurodivergent Individuals – Supporting Young Adults and Families Through Life Transitions
Emerging adulthood can bring significant challenges. This therapy service provided by Cristina Cruz-Thompson, M.S. is designed for neurodivergent transitional-age youth and their families who are navigating the shift toward greater independence, adulthood, college, work, and community living.
Therapy focuses on helping young adults build practical life skills, strengthen emotional wellness, and develop confidence in daily functioning and relationships.
Areas of Support:
- Executive Functioning Skills: Support with building organization, planning, time management, task initiation, and follow-through for school, work, and independent living.
- Emotional Regulation & Stress Management: Developing strategies to manage emotions, reduce overwhelm, improve impulse control, and cope with stress and anxiety.
- Social Communication & Relationship Building: Improving communication skills, social confidence, self-advocacy, and healthy relationship development with peers, family members, coworkers, and partners.
- College & Workplace Transitions: Helping young adults prepare for and navigate college life, employment, workplace expectations, and increasing independence.
- Daily Living & Personal Responsibility: Building practical routines and life management skills, including:
- Personal hygiene and self-care
- Planning daily activities and responsibilities
- Organization and routine development
- Independent living skills
Family Support & Collaboration
Families often play an important role during this stage of development. Therapy may include parent and family support to improve communication, foster independence, and create supportive environments for growth and success.
